Melasma

I have also never had progesterone shots. I believe they caused it due to this statement I found on wikipedia:

"Melasma is thought to be the stimulation of melanocytes or pigment-producing cells by the female sex hormones estrogen and progesterone to produce more melanin pigments when the skin is exposed to sun. Women with a light brown skin type who are living in regions with intense sun exposure are particularly susceptible to developing this condition."

And more info on Melasma:

"Melasma (also known as chloasma or the mask of pregnancy when present in pregnant women) is a tan or dark facial skin discoloration. Although it can affect anyone, melasma is particularly common in women, especially pregnant women and those who are taking oral or patch contraceptives or hormone replacement therapy (HRT) medications (this would be those shots I'm getting, HRT). It is also prevalent in men and women of Native American descent (on the forearms) and in men and women of German/Russian Jewish descent (on the face).

The symptoms of melasma are dark, irregular patches commonly found on the upper cheek, nose, lips, upper lip, and forehead. These patches often develop gradually over time. Melasma does not cause any other symptoms beyond the cosmetic discoloration. "

Be careful in the sun while you're pregnant.

My face isnt so pretty either :o

7 Things You Didn't Know About Raising Newborn Twins

No. 1. No schedule means no life (for you).

"It's hard enough with a single baby, but when you have newborn twins, things have to be on a schedule," Walker says. "You want to get the babies on the same feeding and napping schedules. They will eventually learn to adapt." (You won't if the newborn twins are not on a schedule!)
No. 2. You can breastfeed both babies at the same time -- really!

"If you breastfeed, you can feed both babies at the same time with one twin on each breast, but it takes great coordination and patience," Walker tells WebMD. "I personally did not like the way it felt."

She recalls that breastfeeding her newborn twins felt like she was balancing two bobbing heads. The solution? "I breast-fed one and bottle-fed the other," she says. "I would sit down on the floor while breastfeeding one infant, while the other infant lay on a pillow in front of me or on my side with a bottle, so the whole feeding experience would take me 45 minutes -- total."
No. 3. One crib is fine in the beginning.

"Newborn twins can certainly remain in the same crib initially," Walker says. "If they sleep better when they know the other is close by, crib-sharing can last up until they move into their childhood beds."

Many parents may make the switch to two cribs when the twins begin to roll, bump into one another and wake each other up, she says.

While one crib is fine, two car seats and a double-stroller are absolute musts for newborn twins.
No. 4. Newborn twins may be more likely to have respiratory problems.

Newborn twins are more likely than singletons to be born early and underweight. "Preemies often do have more respiratory issues because their lungs may not be as developed as babies born at term," explains Alan Rosenbloom, MD, a New York City-based pediatrician. This doesn't mean that both premature newborn twins will have respiratory issues, however. "If you have two premature twins born at 32 weeks and one needs a breathing tube, this twin may be more likely to have respiratory issues down the road than a twin who had slightly more mature lungs and only needed some oxygen via a nasal cannula."

No 5. Newborn twins share everything -- including germs.

"Twins are like all siblings in that they certainly get each others illnesses," says Rosenbloom. "If you have a contagious infection, the risk of a twin sibling getting it is just as good as if another person in the same household had that infection," he says. Parents of newborn twins may consider separating the two if one comes down with a contagious illness right after birth. "Mobility is less of an issue early on, so if one twin has chickenpox, for example, you can separate them and let the healthy twin stay somewhere else to minimize their risk," he says. "You can’t reduce the risk to zero, but you can control it better."
No. 6. Twins may be similar, but they are also different.

Encourage the differences between twins and never compare twins to one another, says mom of twins and developmental pediatrician Randye Huron, MD, the chief of the section of developmental pediatrics and the director of the Institute for Child Development at the Joseph M. Sanzari Children's Hospital at Hackensack University Medical Center in New Jersey. "Most children do have their own strengths and weaknesses, and twins are no exception," says Huron. "My daughter loves ballet and art, and my son likes sports. I encourage the differences to minimize competition and comparisons," she tells WebMD. "Never say, 'Your sister is behaving, so why aren't you?'"

Separating the twins eventually is also helpful. "It is in their best interest to be separated and get their own group of friends," she says. Separate time with parents and separate play dates encourages independent decision-making.
No. 7. Parenting twins gets easier and easier.

"Young twins are easier to raise, have each other to play with, and sleep better than singletons once they turn 2," says Manju Monga, MD, the Berel Held Professor and the division director of maternal-fetal medicine at the University of Texas Health Sciences Center in Houston, and the mother of twins.

6 weeks.. TWINS!!??!!

Omg, yesterday i found out - at my  6 week ultrasound, that i am having twins.

This just completly made my head spin.  I was pretty speechless at the doctors office, but of course happy, but, it is a bit over whelming. Espically after having had 2 privous miscarriages.

My husband and i like to bet on things for fun, and he bet that it was twins, and now he also thinks that it will be 2 boys. I belive with twins you can find out the sex as early as the 16th week.

I just hope the babies are healthy.

my due date is approx 10, apr. the only thing about having twins is that my baby bump is already starting to form, and i am trying my best to wait for 3-4 months before i share the news. But in my excitement i've stated to look at twins baby shower ideas and am leaning towords the Noah's Ark.

20 reasons why it's great to have twins

1. Knowing that you are only going to have to go through the birth process once to end up with two children.

2. Enjoying the fun of choosing two baby names that fit together perfectly.

3. Being able to hold one baby in each arm and feeling a huge rush of love and pride.

4. Watching your babies sleeping peacefully side by side.

5. Having to establish only one routine.

6. Getting all the sleepless nights over and done with in one go.

7. Watching them carve out their own identities as they grow.

8. Knowing that they are going to have a best friend in each other for life.

9. Enjoying the attention that twins inevitably attract.

10. Feeling confident that they can help each other on their first day of school.

11. Discovering all their amazing little differences.

12. Watching them create their own secret language and games.

13. Knowing that they will never be lonely.

14. Loving the fact that they are constant playmates and can entertain each other.

15. Feeling special because you've joined the exclusive club of twin mums together with the likes of Jennifer Lopez and Julia Roberts.

16. Only having to buy one of every must-have toy and not having to give baby number two (by a few minutes!) hand-me-downs.

17. Only having to bake one birthday cake and throw one party a year.

18. Seeing them learning and encouraging each other to reach their milestones.

19. Watching them taking care of each other when one is upset or hurt.

20. Knowing that their shared history means they have one of life's most unbreakable bonds.

things to remember when i'm a mom.

01. read to them and let them read to me. even if it takes forever.

02. paintbrushes and a bucket of water on a sunny sidewalk creates instant and harmless masterpieces.

03. call the babysitter and tell them how much fun the kids had with them the other night.

04. don't try to do too many things at once. be present in the moments. don't rush the doing.

05. carry snacks. and bubble gum.

06. believe in the power of the bribe.

07. don't assume that every restaurant and/or home is child proof. watch them close.

08. let them make decisions. (but not every decision. remember who's in charge.)

09. make a journal, documenting things they say. it's too easy to forget.

10. take pictures. not just when they are dolled up on sunday mornings but even on the days when they dump rice krispies all over the sofa.

11. eat around the table together more often than not.

12. praise them. say sweet things about them on the phone when they're still in the room.

13. keep dating my husband. try to find more subjects than the kids to chat about. remember to ask him about his life too. even if mine gets super overwhelming. remember what it's like to be thick in a career.

14. make family traditions. even simple ones like kissing them before they get on the bus, cutting their sandwiches in silly shapes or going on sunday evening walks.

15. create cute nicknames for them.

16. write notes and stick them in their lunchboxes. even when they are too old for lunchboxes, leave it on the bottle of orange gatorade in the fridge.

17. volunteer at their schools. be available to bring forgotten homework or to fix their wig for the halloween parade.

18. hang up their artwork. put favorites in frames that descend down the staircase wall.

19. go on trips with and without them. let them see the grand sights of world. but remember to be a person all by myself too.

20. remember what's really important: children wearing hannah montana sneakers, not that important; exercising agency, very important.

21. buy them the book of their choice; let them learn to love to read.

22. sing them each their own lullabye and say prayers every night.

23. be on their level. play with them on the floor. hold them in my lap. ride roller coasters together.

24. tell them all the reasons why they are special. again and again and again.

25. say i love you. because you can never say it enough. yet refrain from yelling it to them from the car window on the first day of junior high.

the mean office

I just got back from the doctors office. Today i went to see a differnt Doctor then my normal one. The people seemed so much less friendly at this BF office. :( and my doctor was a man, which isnt a problem, but he was kinda stuck-up. at least that what he seemed like to me. He kept acting like i didnt know i was pregnent or how many weeks i was. which i just let roll off my shoulder, but then he said some things that were hurtful. things like we have to do bloodwork today and you gonna hve to come in again on wends or thurs so we do it again. and i piped up and said to check HGC lvls? and he looked back at me and said yea, to make sure that the kid is growing and your not just carring an empty sac.

Srsly, why did he need to be so mean about it? maybe it wasnt mean. maybe i minded so much.  but that remark was so hurtful :'(  it makes  me want to cry.  I dont think i could handle another miscarrage, and he doesnt need to make it seem like thats all that is ever gonna happen to me..

I didnt tell my husband yet, he'll get upset as well, i'l just tell him i have to go in for some tests.

Yesterday i went to get my prenatal vits and saw an old friend. its nice to run into friends that you havent talked to in like forever. She was the pharm tech that filled my prenatal vitamin prescription, so i guess she knows i'm preg.  so far i havent told anyone. as far as i know only a total of 3 ppl know then, thats okay.

i really want things to work, i want them to work so much, i dont want a mscarriage and the doctor doesnt need to make me feel negitive.:(

Doc's Office

Yesterday i was at the doctors office and got not only the pam test done but a whole lot of blood work.  After the doctors office i dropped my husband off to work and headed to the hospital for my first ultrasound.

The regestraion process wasnt painful, the fact i had to wait an hour with a bladder, i drank near about 9 cups of water.  I suppose it was my fault.  At fisrt i drank only about 3 cups by the time they called me in, and then the lady tried the ultrasound and said i didnt have nuff water in me and handed me 2 BIG cups of ice water which i downed. She said she'd try to give me a few mins and stepped out. When she got back she told me i'd have to wait in the waiting area, due to the fact she had to see another patient. So i was like "okay np."  Where i ended up waiting for more then an hour. My lord the pressure was painful, but somehow i held it till a differnt lady came and got me.  She was so nice, letting me see the screen and explaining things to me.

Over all the lady said that i was about 4 weeks and not 5 like my doc had calulated. which is okay too.

After all that, i have to goto one doc's office on monday and my gyn's office on friday.  Its kinda dissapointing that my husband doesnt understand all the things me and my body are going though. its not like i'm purposefully being a lazy bitch.. he just doesnt spend time with me,.

intro

Just found out wednesday by sheer luck while at the docs office getting back blood test reports that i'm pregnent.  I was complaing to her how my entire body just ached and that i was so tired all the time now and told her about how my period was pretty late, so she had me take a pregnancy test.  And i'm pregnent.  According to the calulators i should be about 5 weeks now. Everything seems good, cept I do have low iron count in my blood, so lucky me i got little red pills for that :(

I'm a bit worried as is my husband, beacuse i've had 2 previous miscarriages. I'm hoping and praying for the best this time. I think it would be nice to have a little one, and i think i'm ready.

Of course i'm excited, I spend most of today writing out differnt types of diet plans, and thinking of questions that i need to ask the doctor tommorow.
